Thats normal. There are a couple of reasons.
1: tax reasons for canon. In some places a stills camera is taxed differently to a video camera. So they limit the video capabilities of the video on the mainly stills camera.
2: your camera does not have fans in it to keep it cool like a video camera would have so to protect its self from over heating it'll cut off.

Dont feel singles out all dslr's are the same.

Card is full ? Card is not original and speed drops , so camera stops recording ?

Around 30 mins recording from a Canon DSLR is normal behaviour.

we can close, the canon 550d is taxed about 4gb, so when the camera record the max, i have to press again and restart the record. So boring
