I need a new laptop for Youtube video/music editing.

Can someone suggest what specification I should go for?

Mac is too expensive for me.

Do I need an i5 or i7?

Do I need separate graphics card?

Thanks.

If youre going for a laptop for editing, youre best off with a mac of any kind as their sole purpose is for editing and creativity
But if you want it to render out fast and decent with a windows computer, then an i7 and 8gb Ram should do the trick
Could however be more expensive than a mac laptop tho

I have a mac and use it for editing. Editing is much easier on a mac, as well as transferring video onto my program. Definitely skip the Air and opt for a Pro model.
Since you cannot afford a Mac, I recommend an i7, especially if you will be heavily editing/animating in high resolutions.

I have the Lenovo ideapad 310-15ISK on Windows 10 which has the i5 processor, 8gb ram, 1tb memory and I'm sure they do it with a choice intel or nvidia graphics. Its £350 - £400 in the UK. I've had it around a year and used it for hours every day and its still holding up really good. It has a 1080p screen which is great for video editing. It will play the newer games but you have to lower the graphics quality on alot of them it also runs FL studio perfectly. Good luck in your search for a new laptop.

I don't think it matters. All you need is a laptop with enough hard drive space and fast processor. I had to buy ram for mines because it's too slow. :furious: They don't sell the laptops with Movie Maker anymore :shifty2:and that's what I use. I can only afford the free stuff right now. Lol So, instead of buying a new laptop I just bought some ram. I actually ended up saving money. :woot2: My laptop is still slow :meh2: but it's bearable. :smug:
