Ok, so.. I have ALWAYS heard it just takes one video to get suggested in order for your channel to take off.. well for me.. that is so wrong! I have had a few videos sorta take off, but only being suggested by one maybe two other videos.. so to me it seems you have to have like 100 other videos suggesting your one video for you to even grow somewhat bigger.. is anyone else experiencing this? I have a huge jump in views then a week later.. it's way down again.. I mean the videos are still being suggested..but.. ugh..just feeling really frustrated!

Any advice?

Thanks!

Mommy B
It honestly varies, it may take off or it may not. Overall, just be you and do what you love!! Don't worry if your vids don't take off right away, it may take a long time man

No not really, in my experience it tries out a few and if you do good it will give you more views. On most of my videos, it's usually one other video (from another channel) that drives the views coming in and only if that is not providing enough traffic to the liking of the algorythm it gives you a second or new one. The key thing is to deliver on the slots you do get, if you don't you derank and that aint good.
There's also a limiting factor, no matter if I reach first slot on someone elses video, youtube throttles still, capping the views you get at certain limits. Do well and they will upgrade you to the next tier, bringing some more views or from better channels.
This is very interesting. I didn't know YT caps limits based on your channel authority. Is this determined by views or subs or both? Seems like this makes it even harder to conquer the algo.

To me it seems like it at least, and I've heard other channels experience the same. That's why consistency on your videos to deliver is important, you don't want to be a one day fly.
Here's my 90 day view, you can see the peaks and the dips, each stronger at each pulse. Looking back at January those peaks and dips seem small but they aren't when you zoom in on them (second picture, January 14th till Feb 17th).

Oh wow! Yes, I do see it from your analytics graphs. Thanks for sharing. We really appreciate it. Congratulations on your exponential growth. It's amazing! We are slowly trying to revamp our channel with skits. so hard. By the way, we follow you on YTTalk, but I can't look at your profile because of the settings. Is there a way for us to check out your previous comments so that we may learn from you as well?

What do you mean video gets suggest ? Do you mean that videos that are from other channels suggest your video on the side ? if that is the case, it's really depends on what video is suggesting your video. For example there might be 10 videos suggesting your videos but if they all have not more than 1000 views, it would not do much for you. Or you could be suggested by one video, but it has 1,000,000 views then your video could take off!

No worries, it's indeed harder I think, but it will get easier after a while.
I had a look at my settings, not sure why it's blocked. I changed something that could be related, hope it works now.

Yep, exactly! Well the current one being suggested is by a new video the other channel just posted, but the previous videos they have done have well over 1 million views. (one has 4 million and other has over 10 million i believe) I have seen over 1,000 views per min on our one video because its been suggested by their one video..[DOUBLEPOST=1494589075,1494588470][/DOUBLEPOST]

Wow those are awesome numbers! I had a question for you.. I see that many of your newer videos are under 4 mins.. does that make a different? Ours are too and to me we get better retention/watch time with shorter videos vs longer ones.. Thanks!

To be honest I don't know, many people say watch time is more important and make longer videos. I personally feel better when my content is as lean as possible, no filler. If it means a video is 2 minutes, I leave it like that, if it turns out as 4 minutes I'm also fine.
One YT manager in my country has told me % retention is more important than watch time (preferably high % retention and high watch time of course), but I've heard most other YT managers say that watch time length is more important than % retention. Ask most specialists and they will tell you to make longer videos while keeping audience engaged, % retention is less important.
As I said above, I keep my content as lean as I can and I strive for above average relative audience retention across the whole video. Percentage wise, my videos around 2 minutes get between 66% and 70% retention usually, the ones around 3 minutes get 60%-65% and the ones around 4 minutes get between 50% and 60%.

Here's the retention for my latest video 3:21 in length.

Thank you! Your change did allow me now to look at all your posts :) Now, I've got more homework to do... But, it's good homework. Have a great weekend. It's Mother's Day in the States. So, all the best to Kids Corner Mom![DOUBLEPOST=1494609812,1494609512][/DOUBLEPOST]About this skits.. it is hard! We just did our first storyline skit and then I noticed you guys did something similar 2 days ago. Great minds think alike! Fidget Spinners falling into the toilet. We got our idea from TigerBoxHD. But, our video is completely different. I don't stick my hand into the toilet. Pierce does! Hahaha! May I ask, which channels are you watching to "shadow"? I've noticed that you've had great success with the Careless Dad crushing things a few months ago. I'm wondering if it's still popular to have careless Dad crushing things with the car or is it on the downward trend.[DOUBLEPOST=1494609852][/DOUBLEPOST]

haha I just watched yours! Love it! Great job! haha

We got our idea from KiddieToysReview.. to me they arent as popular as they were when we first made our second.. but doesnt hurt to try! TigerBox HD did one just recently and it had over 3 million views.. I did one a while back and it didnt do much.. but then again.. TigerBoxHD's channel has 43 Million on it plus over 50k subs.. We shadow a lot of kiddietoysreview. but other than the careless dad ones nothing else really took off ;) We are thinking about doing a crushing one of the spinner like TigerboxHD.. but not sure yet haha We did a superhero crushing one with spiderman a few days ago with not much luck.. We have shadowed several.. we even have shadow your channel! haha You have had success with the happy meal toys..[DOUBLEPOST=1494620948][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thank you so much for this! We seem to do better with shorter videos, our longer ones dont have may views.. our channel as a whole is about 40% retention.. which I'm not sure if that great or not haha
