Setting up a Giveaway

How have you guys and girls done giveaways? I am closing in on 300 subscribers and want to do one when I hit that. I am thinking that I will have them like my facebook page and also subscribe. I know all subscriptions are not public so how do you know they have subscribed or do you just not care as long as the number is at 300?

Please let me know what you have done.
