Read if considering partnering with Youtube:

Hello everyone,
I wanted to post this for all of you who want to join the Youtube Partnership program!
As a former Youtube Partner, I have MUCH experience with this, and there are many pros and cons of the deal. Please read this before deciding whether or not to join the program.

PROS:
1. Being payed by Youtube.
In order to get paid, you must have a Google Adsense account, which really is a hassle to get. Once you're in and approved though, the layout is great and very simple.

2. More exposure.
Youtube will place your videos on top of the search results more often than not, giving you more chance at receiving clicks/views.

3. Partner features.
Now Youtube is allowing the partner features to be given to anyone, so this part doesn't matter as much now.

CONS:
Here is where I start the sad part of this post.
I was a Youtube Partner for 1 month, before I got the email saying my Adsense was disabled. They claimed I was clicking my own ads (VERY untrue) and banned me, giving me one chance to appeal. They denied my appeal, and ignored all of my other attempts. And also, I had $97 in my account I had earned, but since the month was not up and I had not reached my threshold, Google took the money.

Google, and Youtube, have the WORST customer care I have ever come across. I am not trying to hate on Google or YT, but this is the truth. Not only do they not list their email, but I sat on the phone nearly an hour on hold only to be put through to a robot. There is NO HUMAN INTERACTION no matter how hard you try, or how deep you dig. Everything is automated.
I managed to get a hold of the CEO of Google's email (A little pushy, I know) and it has been 5 months with no response from him or Google.
I had lost all partner features, including custom thumbnails, and was banned from creating a new Adsense. (I tried creating a new Adsense, with a new name, new bank account, EVEN ANOTHER IP ADDRESS, and they still traced and found out it was me and banned me instantly.)
I was desperate by then, and used the "Live chat" feature in Google Adwords, just so I could have some true human contact.
The lady was very nice and offered to look into my account to see exactly why I was banned, and a few days later emailed me saying that she could not override my accounts closure. At least I knew I had exhausted all avenues.

I discovered the other partnering networks, many of which said my channel was a great fit for them. I went through the process with each one, but then got shut down saying I couldn't join if I had a disabled Adsense.

So, here is the list of cons.

1. If you get disabled, there is no going back.
Only 5% of people who's accounts are closed get back in. And most of them, were disabled for no reason just as I was. You will also not earn the revenue from that month/payment session.

2. If you are disabled, no partner network will accept you.
It's just the truth. You will almost become a leper of the internet who no one can touch.

3. Google and their customer care.
Google does not care about it's customers. It's simple. I haven't heard one story from anyone who had a good experience with them.

4. Loss of partner features.
For me, as a makeup guru, I love creating custom thumbnails and really showing off the look. I was unable to do that (They gave this feature back, how nice of them! :D) for many months.

And this basically comes to the end of my rant/info packet. Basically, if you want to partner, find a great network. I have found great reviews with networks such as SocialBlade, FullScreen, and the RPM network here on this site. They have GREAT customer care, and will treat you far better than the straight up YT partnership.

Good luck to everyone! Youtube is such a fun place... Just don't get on the dark side of the partnership. ;)

With all due respect, I took a look at your SB page

http://socialblade.com/youtube/user/thevictoriank

You had about 4K views in the last 30 days yet you say that within one month, you were up to $97 in your earnings? Based on views, you could have between $4 to $16 in ad revenue. That means that you have over $80 in click-thru earnings.

That is extremely high. That is not natural by any stretch of the imagination.

You do have to keep in mind though, there are over one million partners and suspension from Google AdSense only happens to a few thousand AdSense publishers. It is a very rare thing and if you're getting more than say 50 or 100 views a day, you likely won't get suspended. It sucks to hear you got caught up in that bad situation though. :/

I also had my blog and other YT channel (Now disabled) monetized. Oh and this whole incident also happened around 6 months ago :) I just now chose to write about it.[DOUBLEPOST=1378706000,1378705862][/DOUBLEPOST]

That is totally true!
But it still happens, and I am suggesting instead of going with the YT partner route, to partner with another network.
I had a lot of plans for my Youtube account, so it created more drama than it should have with me haha.

So, partnering up with other networks, how does that work? I'm new to it all and just recently got partnered with YouTube. What are the other networks? And what do you do to get partnered? :)

One thing that I find interesting when it comes to people and the whole Adsense ban, is they all assume it means you have to physically click on the ad. If you watch past about 15 seconds of a video ad, it counts as a click. I often wonder how many people when checking out their own videos don't realize that. I also wonder why YouTube doesn't just disregard any ad action done by a user logged in to their own account while visiting their own channel. I shouldn't register a view, when I'm logged in, checking how the video looks after it's uploaded... :P
