Making an Introduction Video and Improvement?

Hey, guys so today I made an introduction video to my channel. as I'm very new I don't know if that was the right thing to do as is it just a waste of time to make an introduction video?

also, does anyone have any good strategies on how to promote your videos? it doesn't seem right to just advertise on someone else's channel so I'm having some trouble thanks in advance

Normally the answer doesn't seem to change when it comes to channel promotion. =\ It's more or less just a really big grind.

Social Media sites (granted I'd recommend staying away from reddit) and word of mouth (talking to everybody about it) and then consistently improving and uploading videos is normally your best bet. But it's going to be a grind. So just keep at it and keep talking about it. =] Good luck.
