Issue with mic on iPhone using YouTube LIVE

I have an iPhone 8 Plus on 11.3. When I go Live using YouTubes native app, the only microphone that works is the front facing microphone near the selfie camera, even if I’m using the rear camera. To say it’s annoying is an understatement. Is there anyway to switch the microphone?
