with the recent advertiser strike is it too late to make a career off YouTube being it seems that everyone will be making a lot less money? Or is it just temporary and the advertisers will come back after YouTube works with them to get what they want?

Yt will strike a balance between creators and advertisers. Some content will be restricted to youngsters, and some content will not be monetizable. If you want to make a career on Yt, make content that is as accessible and advertiser friendly as possible. Once the advertisers come back, with less videos available to spread ads over, those creator who meet advertiser requirements will likely make more money. It could not be a better time than now to start an advertiser friendly channel.

What would you consider advertising friendly?

It's not too late, especially if you make good content. There are tons of ways to make money even if Youtube Ad Revue crashes. Sponsorships, crowdfunding, etc. But I feel like Youtube will get this worked out. It's not like they want their advertisers to leave, they have been bullied into removing ads by the media. From what I have heard, they just really suck at PR, which is why Youtubers are angry.

And even if Youtube goes down the tubes, people will still consume content, but will just take their views to Facebook, Vimeo, Pornhub, etc. They will follow the creators, rather than creators following the crowd.

Content that is considered "not advertiser-friendly" includes, but is not limited to:

  • Sexually suggestive content, including partial nudity and sexual humor
  • Violence, including display of serious injury and events related to violent extremism
  • Inappropriate language, including harassment, profanity and vulgar language
  • Promotion of drugs and regulated substances, including selling, use and abuse of such items
  • Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown

The advertisers are the least of your worry if you want to make it a career. It is the sheer amount of YouTube creators that fight for a piece of the pie. And then there is the fact that the ones at the top will rarely help a smaller YouTuber out because that, in a sense, will take food off their plate. And you can not get anywhere on YouTube without exposure from a big YouTube channel. And not just a single shout out, I mean a hard core plug that keeps coming back. Partners in crime sort of thing.

That is true my man and I mean, I'm no big YouTuber but at 4k, I've been wanting to help out others grow as that is a passion of mine along with inspiring and entertaining. Just peeked at your channel and it's a solid size! :] You've got a pretty solid channel man :] I don't rely on YouTube to make money, that's what my security job is for but the only thing I want is to make people happy and to see YouTube essentially take that away and leave a lot of the smaller YouTubers in the dust is really insulting and discouraging..but I haven't given up and i won't give up either. Another issue that needs to be corrected ASAP is the enforcing of rules and actually taking down content and channels that targets and bullies other people, spreads bigotry and hate speech but they are getting off Scott free and being rewarded while those that don't break rules are being condemned for some strange reason. It's annoying AF but this is why we have to #RiseTogether to overcome the odds that are bigger than ever before. I am willing to do everything i can and more to keep it going until i can go no more, then i get up and go some more.

Yea i feel it man. it's always been a dream of mine to do youtube as a career mainly being im a film maker and have actually dabbled in hollywood but i wasnt feeling it that much. I love Youtube for being able to have creative freedom with projects and also being able to connect with your audience. No matter what, i know i wont stop. I have too much to give the world before i call it quits on youtube and by the end when i run out of ideas (which will likely never happen) and i still have no way to make a living, then i wanna say i gave it my best shot to do what a dream of mine was.
