Interesting perspective on MCN's and YouTube

I Love YTtalk
This presentation was from August 23, 2013 but I just found it today.
Jason Calacanis has some interesting perspectives on what could be the future of MCN's? (networks)

The content of the video discusses much more than the title would lead you to believe.

What are your takeaways from the video?

Before I watch it I just want to say, there's been so much thoughts on the future of MCNs these last few months that it is hard to know where they will go, 75% of people seem to think most will die and the other 25% seems to think they'll start doing better o.o

This guy needs to go look at Pewdiepie's bank account then tell him he can make more money uploading somewhere else, because he can't and none of the major YT stars will. Blip will never compete with YouTube, and Maker has little plans to move its partners to Blip. This guy is overanalyzing things that aren't there. You can never know the greatness that is an MCN unless you are a YouTuber. YouTube has zero support team, and that will prove problematic if they want to compete with MCNs. Also, he is only speaking towards the .0005% of channels that have millions of subscribers. The smaller channels are a huge part of the revenue for YouTube and MCNs as well. Lastly, Blip ads will never have near YouTube's CPMs. If you are an advertiser, do you want to advertise on the biggest media network on the internet or Blip? Thats what I thought, you want to pay a little extra to advertise on YouTube.

Correct. Maker will keep having their creators make content on YouTube but strive to provide additional content for Blip.

Do you know anything about Blip's CPM's or typically revenue share agreements? If so, message me.

Fullscreen is seemingly looking to have a musical artist roster. I think that musicians could benefit greatly by utilizing an Amazon service. Consumers could buy MP3's for download right there on the content creator's page. Amazon already has a lot of good working relationships with the recording industry/licensing rights holders.

As for the speaker over analyzing issues, we have to take everything he says with a grain of salt. He will definitely skew things in his favor because he is an investor.

The day a competitor for Youtube emerges...must be a magical day for all content creators. In the video hosting world right now, youtube is a monopoly.

When I tried out blip.tv, the CPM was way way higher than YouTube's.
