I don't understand you tube's ranking criteria

For about 3 years I was getting around 15 thousand views a day for a handful of language learning videos. The videos were good, but I did no seo or regular uploading. One video was number 1 in the search for all this time. This year I decided to develop the channel and did some regular uploads, quality videos which well 'liked' etc... Throughout the year the views have dropped and dropped and all the videos are now ranked really low.

Can anyone shed some light? It seems the opposite of what is supposed to happen - i.e punished for regular quality uploads. I haven't done any dodgy tricks to deserve a slap down either

Thanks for any insight.

Unfortuantely videos dont keep producing the same numbers year after year. They eventually have their day and fade.

I have 'big' videos that was earning me good profit but next to nothing today. But other videos take its place. You got to keep up with regular content.

Interesting read. I wonder if YTs SEO actually accounts for consistency.i guess it does!
