the reality is that noone (With the possible exception of Film professionals deciding to take up a hobby) starts youtube with good kit. the idea is you start with crap kit and you suck for ages and ages and ages but you slowly and surely get better. eventually your material improves and you maybe scrape enough money together to get a better Mic/Better editing software/a better camera. and then after a few years you can finally stand on your own two feet with good content being produced with good kit...I was quite lucky really because this isnt my first stab at youtube or film making. I've been working in film now for nearly 12 years as a film editor and camera operator. my first youtube channel (Opening in 2006) was awful. I sucked terribly; but it gave me enough experience to try and make a film, then another film, then anohter film. then I got a couple of freelance gigs based on people watching my films and liking them...this led me to making money which let me buy better kit which let me make better content to the point where I was offered a place at a university based on my portfolio. I did 3 years there and graduated with a good degree in film technology and film studies (I chose to specialise as an editor) which then led to a job in the industry which i've used to buy better kit and also to start my current youtube channel. and even then if you watch my first 5-6 videos vs my current ones the difference in quality is night and day. it takes time, a lot of energy and patience to get there...Start sucking today and you'll be in a much better place 6 months from now than if you never bothered
