How important is a Discord channel these days?

I'd rather get people interacting on the YouTube channel itself - Either in the "community" tab or in the comments section of each video. Interaction on YouTube gets picked up by and noticed by the algorithm. That's not the case with discord.

This is true, it would be better to keep communication / community on YouTube but that doesn't work for those of us that don't have a community tab and don't get a lot of comments on our videos.
