If someone has my work uploaded but I don't have proof per say that the work is mine, what is the process here?

For example, if I make the claim and the person who's uploaded it doesn't respond because they know it's my work, will it just get automatically removed?

Unless you are a member of the Content ID System, you need to manually file a copyright strike; and if either it isn't obvious that you are the original copyright owner of the media in question, or you are filing on a video in which you've used third party copyright content, you are courting a channel termination for false filing of a legal form; which is perjury.

Gaming videos are a prime example; you may have created and uploaded the video, but the actual copyright belongs to the game developer. Same with sports highlight videos, ad several other types which use third party content.
