Software wise I started out using Inkscape. Now most days I use Canva since it's web based and I can use it from any device and it's free.

I didn't see Inkscape on the list. It's a free Vector graphics program. It complements GIMP fairly nicely.

If you want 3d Graphics then there is Blender.

You're missing the famous Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects haha. Those are the one's I use. I'm sure these programs will work just fine though. Thanks for the tips! :)
GimpShop is very nice, I was trained in PhotoShop and when I left school lost the access; it took me a long time to get used to free software, until I installed this nifty little plug. I am 5x more confident on this than vanilla Gimp.[DOUBLEPOST=1504614044,1504613999][/DOUBLEPOST]
People keep asking, so I'm making a topic yall can reference from now on. I got this list from an artist site. If there are any other programs I missed, comment below and I shall add them.

NOTE: Some of these might not be free anymore. If that's the case, let me know.

  • Paint.net
  • GIMP
  • FireAlpaca
  • SumoPaint
  • Pixlr.com
  • Kirta
  • Pixia
  • MyPaint
  • Flowpaint
  • Qaquarelle
  • Twisted Brush
  • Open Canvas 1.1
  • Chasys / Chacha's Lab
  • Oekaki:
  • ChibiPaint
  • Oekaki Central
  • DA Muro
Several of those I haven't even heard of, definitely adding them to my check-out list, thank you!

I'll maybe try some of these in the future. Right now I'm fine with using Power Point for my thumbnails.

Some of these are open source software which are completely different from free software
