YouTube is experimenting with a new way to recognize the stars who are generating headlines on its platform. The video site has launched a temporary section on its trending tab that spotlights “featured creators” whose channels have at least one million subscribers.

It's a nice idea!

Still, they do this when also making it difficult for smaller channels to get out there.

If you’re at a million you don’t need any help!!! Make a video and it’ll likely get 100000 in a day and the algorithm will take it from there. So why get even more support when I get nothing!?

It'd be cool if they made a customized "shelf" where the viewer could pick the channel size range that they want to see trending videos from. Since YouTube is previewing the videos put in the trending section, I don't really see how they could do that, but it would be cool!

1 million subscriber video promotions seems a bit odd, but I also see why they are doing it...

Seems a good idea. A channel with over a million subs should be good. And there are probably thousands of those channels that I just dont happen across. If YT shows me the way then maybe I can watch some better content.

It's like Formula 1. If you prove you're good, they'll put you in pole position. :)

Seems pointless to me. Does anyone have trouble finding large channels? It seems like they get enough of a push from the algorithm as it is.

I think this nice, but they should make different categories for other YouTubers like 100, 200,300 subscribers etc. that way the smaller channels who put a lot of effort in their videos get noticed as well.
