Does anyone pay to promote? If so, how much and when do you decide to promote?

I did once, a while back, on FB. I was actually more curious of how the whole thing worked than to attract more followers since I was just starting. Anyhow, I get daily tons of likes on the facebook page, 90% from India, the rest from my country, etc. But very little extra views or interaction. I think it may help, but that's once you got much more viewers, a lot of people just click on "like" without even looking at the FB page, these guys normally put like at the same time on 6 other pages everyday. A lot of people think it is a scam, coz they charge you for "activity" on your page so I wouldn't do it again...not for a loooong time at least

I haven't tried it myself, and probably won't, but a friend of mind have it a shot and wasn't too pleased.
