Does faceless branding work?

Funny thing is I just bought a face cam and I'm not sure if I should do face videos. Mainly because the background is always busy.

I think much like an intro, if it obstructs the quality of your vids, you shouldn't really have one.

My feelings exactly! If your point is to entertain, inform or whatever - just do that and people will appreciate it I think. No need to show your face unless that's what you want.

There are two examples that I know of:

None of those channels shows the face as part of their branding.

I haven't shown my face (I'm a gaming channel which is kinda weird not to do lol) ... and I'll probably will not do it until 500K subs cause I'm not in a pressure to show my face. I heard a lot that showing your face HELPS your audience feel more CONNECTED and probably is true,,, but in 3 months since I uploaded my first video and almost 5K subs I've been doing fine without showing my face so who knows? I don't think showing face = success :shrug:
