As a relatively small channel (12K subscribers) with multiple topics, I find there is a very useful feature missing entirely from YouTube. Yes, we can have our subscribers be notified of all of our uploads with the bell icon, but what if everyone isn't dually interested in cars and underwater basket weaving?
A very necessary feature on YouTube which will promote the growth of single channels would be a playlist-based notification system wherein a person can be subscribed to an entire channel, but choose to only receive notifications for content uploaded within the playlist they are most interested in.
I believe there is a clear need for this on YouTube as many multi-topic channels contemplate starting new channels for different topics because it might not mesh well with their current subscriber base; this ultimately hinders their growth as they were a small channel to begin with.
