No, but to be fair, when I was 18, computers were still using DOS and floppies and the stereotype that only nerds touched computers.
Well I did. I was 11-12 years old. Once I was almost tricked by a man who wanted to know personal (and sexual) details about me. I met him in a forum that was about cartoons. Everything from anime to Disney.
My parents knew about the site and trusted it. Because it was a very trustworthy site. They didn't believe in helicopter monitoring either. But my dad sensed something was wrong when I asked him how tall I was when I was by the computer. He asked to see the e-mail and solved it. He then had a long talk with me about this.

Never ever have I blamed my parents for these e-mails. I was a dumb kid who didn't really understand the "fancy" language he used. It was also in English and I didn't know too much English back then.

Moral of the story? Not everything is parents fault. And a child seeing a spooky trailer is definitely not parents fault.
These things happen.
