Background music when filming in outdoor areas

Was at an airshow yesterday filming, they kept playing music over the loudspeakers.. How do people handle commercial music in their videos when it's not part of the actual shoot but somehow captured 'passively'?

I am not entirely sure. Normally if I'm filming a public area/event I usually mute the audio completely and insert my own or royalty-free music to avoid the copyright claim.
If it falls under "fair use" then I would fight it. Just depends on the type of video you want to create with the footage however.

Given it was jets, I wanted thier engines in my video, so i ended up just muting the portions where the music was louder than the planes
