Background Help

So I've made a background and it looks pretty good but there's one problem.

There is a white gap at the top and bottom of my channel still so it looks pretty weird as it then suddenly goes to black where my background starts. How can I get it to go black?

I'm using Photoshop CS6 btw.

If you go on your channel and click on "Channel Settings", you can choose a colour and that might fill the white spaces. If they're still there then I don't know anything else :/ hope I helped
