What do you guys do to increase audience retention? I average about 30%. I'm sure some of this is niche specific. People are more likely to watch a video game walkthrough all the way (or at least I am) then a guy hammering on some hot iron.

    Explain what you do.
Perhaps show the intended result first (e.g. in the title/intro)
Show them what they want to see.
At least for me 30% is a good retention, I often have far less than that.

That may be worth a try, showing the finished product first. Thank you!

retention is the hardest lol. but i notice the more cuts and edits I do the more retention the video has. im sure having true fans also helps. Some videos average 50% some 30% some even 10% lol. as of now, still testing it but looks like more edits, cuts, and camera swaps I do, the more people stay hooked. like a exercise for the brain haha

I figured, based off of my average retention percentage, if I keep my videos between 10 and 15 minutes, I should get some decent watch time results.

my channel average is 49% with a average view duration of 4:35

the shorter the video is the better the % needs to be to do well video's over 10 mins seems like if they can get at least a 6 min average view duration they tend to do well. shorter videos tend to need a better % I have a mix of video lengths from probably 3-13 mins

I seem to get between 3 to 5 minutes no matter how long my videos are now that I look at the analytics
