Hey guys, are reaction channels a bad thing?
I can definitely see some reactors channels going down if someone decides to claim their videos...
Is it Okay to react to videos?
Leave your thoughts :)

I can't stand the ones where people just sit and basically play a viral video with their stupid picture in the corner of the screen and they barely do anything. Ones where there is something gross and old people react or something like that I'm fine with, it's the ones where they just sit there and get all kinds of views just because of the original video's title that p**s me off.

I honestly can't stand them. They're pretty much all talent-less hacks that are stealing other peoples content. I'll make an exception to H3H3 because they actually add skits and edits among other things to actually make the video interesting and funny, where the focus isn't even on the video they're reacting to. But in the case of people like Jinx: Youtube would be better off without them.

I don't believe they are a bad thing, just content I personally wouldn't watch. Only thing I can find bad about reaction videos is that the reactions are often scripted and performed by paid actors.

However I do have a problem with people being selective about what kind of Reactors should be able to produce reaction videos. Jinx is the perfect example of this. Just because he mainly sits there and is a bit insufferably boring people believe his channel shouldn't exist and have his videos taken down for copyright infringement. The thing is, that would be the same thing as Jinx putting up gameplay videos with the same reactions during his gameplay. He's allowed to post reaction videos (no matter how boring or awful they are) for the same reasons Gamers are allowed to upload and monetize gameplay videos due to the whole fair use and derivative argument I won't get into here. So that would be like me complaining at @Ninja telling him to take down his gameplay videos (just using you as an example, I haven't watched your videos yet) because I thought they were boring and didn't add any value to the gameplay or commentary. There's no real basis for people to say Jinx can't upload or post his reaction videos because he does have that right. However, just like Game Developers and Gameplay channels, those individual Youtuber's/Content Creators have the right to put claims on Jinx's videos to suck the monetary gain from the content he is reacting to.

Ehhhh I'm iffy, leaning towards bad. I hate the ones who rip videos from YTers that clearly put in more effort than they do only for most of them to sit there and do nothing. I have no idea why those have an audience. I can't completely rip on them because I'm subbed to a few K-pop reaction channels, but they're entertaining and give me a sense of fandom solidarity when my fave K-pop artists release something new. And they discuss the video and song afterwards. I could understand many Sit-There-And-Be-Quiet reaction audiences if that were the case, but it doesn't look like it.

Don't like them at all. If you monetize it and react then i'm throwing a copyright strike at you. You don't help my views by "reacting it", i can see the click through rates from these "react" videos and they are negligible at best while stealing millions of views from me. Same for top 5/10/whatever video compilations.

That's a fair point. Although with the subject of gameplay videos, it's deemed fair use (except in some very specific situations) to upload gameplay videos or gaming content in general. As for Jinx or any other reaction channel for that matter, he doesn't technically have the right to rip videos and use them for reactions. I can name multiple channels who have filed suits against him because he never asked for the rights to use or monetize their videos. Jacksfilms and IDubbz to name some recent ones. Most of the time people just don't bother because it costs way too much time, and they wouldn't be able to take down every reaction.

Here are the sources for the gaming fair use stuff:

I know what you mean... Some of them don't give a good reaction, they just kinda sit there silently and chuckle every once in a while. It's supposed to be entertainment but hey... it's their channel.

I know. I thought jinx would have gotten a strike at his channel at some point... But I guess he makes YouTube A LOT of money.

Very true. Never understood why people get mad at jinx but not get mad at the finebros or h3h3, they both produce the same content (Reacting To Videos). We shouldn't be seperating reactors based on content... Otherwise If people disprove of Reactions channels then people like the fine bros and h3h3 are gone as well...
