A messy break up could mean that the network may drag it's heels about releasing the videos from the system.

I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds like I want to avoid a messy break up!

Youtube now allows channel to cancel Network management on the channel at any time so I think you should just hit the remove button in your Channel feature in Youtube Creator Studio.
I'm in BBTV now as well and pretty ok about it. My share is 90% and they do have EpidemicSound to offer which is nice.
