Adding "EXTRA" Tags in my videos description?

Going to keep this simple. I am a gaming channel with 1600 subs. Seen a YouTuber I listen to talk about this being illegal. Is this true, and would it benefit me to add "EXTRA" tags in my videos descriptions to help my videos out popping up in the search engines?

Do you mean tags unrelated to your video? If so, that will actually harm your rankings in the search results. Google is very good at recognising these and you will be penalised in the listings.

You don't want to many tags because your video can pop up in some search nothing related to it. Then people might thumbs it down because its not what they wanted. Even worse, they might flag it for being misleading.
