About commertial music in monetized video

I though that you cant use commercial music in your videos, if you wanna make money from it. But I just found one video which is monetized, judging from the ad at the beginning. How is it possible, or i misunderstood something? Have a look:

That youtube uploader isn't making money off those ads. It's the recording company that is making the money. Notice how it list the names of the songs in the video under the "like/dislike" section.

Yeah, the only time you'd be able to do that is if you were making an hour long educational documentary and you used maybe 30 seconds of a song then it'd be under fair use.
