2,000 wonderful fantastic subscribers (in 8 months)

Loki Doki

Gaming Nerd and SEO Guru
as of today 10th July and 1pm GMT i hit the 2,000 subs (2,010 to be exact)

can't believe its all happened this quickly to be honest, i knew i had the benefit of knowing quite a bit about SEO before starting on this adventure and that really helped, but never planned to hit this target so quick. i had optimistically thought maybe 1k subs in the first year, oops

i was never going to be one of those channels that just exploded in popularity. i make lets plays and guides. these sort of things never go viral. but i am currently averaging about 15 subs a today

as far as money goes. i have actually earn't a small amount, so far in the 8 months i have made $300. for the hours of work i have put in i would have been better off working in a Chinese sweat shop making iphones lol but its still fantastic. i gave about $100 worth of games to my subs as a thank you. and the rest has made the channel basically self sufficient, paying for the games i make videos about which is so cool

YTTalk has also helped me ton. giving me valuable insight into various area's of youtube that i had no experience with. a long with the friendships i have made here. joining this forum was one of the best choices i made. i have tried giving something back and offering my own advice and expertise

for my 2,000 subs video i plan to do a stoned QnA :) i am going to Amsterdam for a weekend in 3 weeks, so feel free to ask any questions below and i will try to answer them in a caravan in Amsterdam in a few weeks :) it can be about youtube or anything else, more random the better

thanks to everyone. and good luck with your channels

That's great man! Just a comment about the money. Working the job suggested has a very fixed salary. What you're doing here is very scalable and if you continue to grow, the money can grow exponentially, so it's an unfair comparison, to your advantage. ;) Anyway, keep up the good work! :D

By the way, do you have any SEO tips to share? :)

thanks mate, yeah its like getting a pay rise every month lol. last 28 days its $118 sweet sweet youtube monies lol

regarding SEO. i had a look at your revelry video (brilliant by the way) its a bit tougher with original content but look at your tags (Revelry, Vigi, original, official, song, own, guitar, strat, stratocaster, marshall, moog, moogerfooger, moogerfoogers, john, frusciante, style, )

single words don't really do much in the way of searches, you will never rank high in such a generic search. you need longer form tags, for example - "original guitar track" or "xxx song guitar cover" you should try to fill up the tags section as much as possible with different variations. try to think of what people might actually put in the search bar, no one searches for "song" they might however search for "best guitar solo" or "best songs to play on guitar" etc

regarding your description. i like the various links, its nice and clean. but the description itself at the top (the most important part) although nice to hear a little back story will do nothing for your search results.

look at your new and improved tags. lets say quite a lot of people are searching for "original guitar track" and "original music" then as well as having that in the tags. use the exact same in the description. but form it into a sentence that makes sense. example "here is my new original guitar track Revelry. (short description of song) make sure to subscribe to see lots more of my original music"

its short and sweet. it includes two well used search terms (also make sure thye are in your tags) it also has a call to action (asking them to sub) this will help a ton

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a well written and personalized text. This will surely have an impact in my future tagging. I haven't really been thinking about that at all. I've just though, "Oh no, not this again. I just want to get it over with and start working on something else.". :) About the call to action (telling people to subscribe), I know that's true but I've felt so awkward telling people that everywhere. I guess I should deal with that.

i know what you mean about asking. i usually phrase it something like "if you enjoyed the content hit that like button and subscriber for more random crap"

That is huge growth! Congratulations on the success
