What the title says. Is 1080p worth the extra recording strain on your computer (when screen capturing things like games) and is it worth the extra rendering time? Is the quality really that much higher than 720p that people will actually watch on 1080p? I personally only watch videos at 720p, even if 1080p is available.

Just looking for thoughts :)

I don't honestly see a difference between 720p and 1080p on my computer. All I know is 1080p lags the video when I try that setting. I never watch in 1080p.

I think you can tell a difference of 720p and 1080p on bigger monitors such as tv, but the average laptop/desktop screen there really is no point towards it.

Do you think there may be a "proffesionalism" point to the 1080p angle? Do people rate your channel higher if you record in 1080?

Really depends, for my personal youtube stuff I always go 720P for lots of reasons, mainly because its a more efficient work flow for my computer and its limited power, it gives me more options in post to crop, zoom, rotate add in cuts.
At my office we have a $12,000 beast which we use for hi end resolutions, like 4 and 5k, I guess what I'm saying is work with what works best for your system

720 p HD is fine, it saves time and most people don't upload in 1080p plus a lot of people don't watch it in 1080 p because if your computer isnt high spec it lags so 720p all the way mate.

All my videos are in 1080p just for the people who want it. They still watch in 480p I guess, but atleast they have an option.

Does analytics show who watches your videos at what resolutions? I'm gonna go check. It would be a handy feature to have for sure.

Edit: There doesn't appear to be.. damn.
